What's On This Winter: London Eye for Tribute Magazine

October 2025: What to check out this Winter for the latest in art and culture

There’s loads on this winter to keep you entertained in art, culture and media - whether from the comfort of your own home or an exhibition to visit and keep you inspired! The below was originally published in Tribute Magazine in October 2025.

1/ Exhibition: Frieze London 2025

Autumn is upon us which means that Frieze art fair is coming back to London! I love Frieze – every year there is a brilliant programme of exhibitions, workshops and events that are easy to immerse yourself in. One of my favourites is always Frieze Sculpture – what’s better than popping your coat on one chilly afternoon for a wander around Regent’s Park’s English Gardens, while looking at some beautiful art?

2/ Music: Big Thief, Double Infinity

Big Thief – Double Infinity has been gracing our studio speakers on loop since its recent drop. The newest album from the American indie folk band is poetic, earnest and emotional. Singer Adrianne Lenker’s melodic and enchanting voice is perfect to help you through a slow afternoon. Big Thief will be touring in the UK in Spring 2026 – I bet this album will be even more magical live than it is recorded.

3/ Exhibition: Turner at Petworth House

I love the work of J.M.W. Turner. I’m lucky enough to have the Turner Gallery just down the road from me in Margate, Kent, inspired by Turner’s life and work. Turner was a regular guest to Petworth house in Sussex, and this year the National Trust estate is hosting a retrospective of the artist’s studies of the Petworth landscape, which is well worth a visit. Petworth is also home to several other pieces of art and collections so be sure to check them out when you’re there.

4/ Film: Sundance Film Festival 2026

The 2026 Sundance Film Festival will be taking place in Utah in January 2026, and although it’s a tricky one to get to in person, I do however love to keep an eye on the films on the programme so I can catch them when they become available in the UK. They also release loads of great interviews and videos online about the artists and films, which give amazing insight and are super inspiring for those interested in film!

5/ Book: Acne Paper, Golden Edition

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Acne Paper – the beautiful biannual magazine by Acne Studios. To celebrate the milestone the latest issue adorns a golden theme, reflecting on gold as a colour, symbol and material. “A hybrid between a book and a magazine that honours two decades of creative exploration” – the description couldn’t be more accurate, and I implore you to immerse yourself in the fashion stories, essays and vast collection of creativity this issue has to offer. And if you find yourself in Paris do visit the “Golden” takeover at their flagship store!

6/ Exhibition: Wes Anderson at London Design Museum

Coming to the Design Museum this November is an exhibition I am truly excited for – Wes Anderson: The Archives. Responsible for iconic films The Royal Tenenbaums, The Grand Budapest Hotel & Rushmore, Anderson has developed a style that is instantly recognisable and prolific. The exhibition will explore the director’s personal archives while following the evolution of his work and promises a display of over 600 objects including miniature models and costumes. I can’t wait!

7/ Documentary: I Am Martin Parr

When you think of British seaside towns (which I often do as the resident of one) it’s hard not to think of the iconic work of photographer Martin Parr. Candid, close-up and highly saturated, Martin Parr has a keen eye for detail unmatched by other British documentary photographers. I am Martin Parr is a documentary that follows the 72-year-old photographer to some of his favourite shooting spots. While the film may be one sided and does little to address the controversy surrounding Parr’s work, as a photographer myself I found it fascinating to watch him in operation and his approach to taking photographs. Years ago I saw him speak at Arles Photography Festival which was so interesting, and another great insight into how he works as a photographer.

8/ Exhibition: East Kent, Artist’s Open Houses

If you find yourself in Kent this October then I would highly recommend exploring the East Kent Artists’ Open Houses trail! There is so much brilliant creativity in Kent and I feel very lucky to be surrounded by wonderful artists who are willing to open their homes and discuss their work with you. Check out the EKOH website to see where and what you can see in the county this October. Sculpture, painting, textiles, ceramics, woodturning - I implore you to find a medium NOT on show! In the past we’ve opened our home to be a part of the art trail which was a fantastic experience.
