Due to the pervasive nature and growing importance of video content, this is an area of the industry which Jack is especially excited by. This passion is evidenced in the creative and innovative methods he uses to challenge the ways in which motion and stills can work to complement and enhance one another. On set, Jack regularly experiments with stills and video by interchanging the two forms, a process which allows him to explore his fascination for the nuanced ways in which stories traverse across the two medias. Sensitive to continuity, Jack is able to utilise his technical experience to use the same lighting for both stills and video which results in a seamless uniformity to the end results.
Jack’s background in photography means that he is used to using a small team when shooting large quantities of creative content, bringing a Director of Photography and a gaffer to set only when required for more in-depth productions. For his video shoots Jack also provides a full production service, including a hand-picked team of skilled camera operators and video editors. Jack and his team also source locations, produce storyboards and recommend talent.
Jack has directed commercial video content for a variety of industry leading hair, beauty and fashion campaigns and has had the opportunity to collaborate with influential make-up, hair and fashion stylists for these shoots. His video portfolio spans TVC and editorial work, as well as social and web campaigns. This eclectic range of experience has provided him with the insight needed to build narratives that are informed by platform, audience and format. His list of clients include GHD, Schwarzkopf and Toni & Guy.
Outside of his commercial video work, Jack uses video to document authentic London talent, enlisting a natural, stripped back editing style which enhances the exploration of the authentic interplay between subject, story and setting.
